The statistical Investigations on the Bite Forces of the Patients in Periodontal Disease

Abstract
|
|
|
For the purpose to investigate influence on the function of the bite force relation to degree of , destruction of alveolar bone or depth of periodontal pocket, the author has measured maximum bite forces by way of the electronic strain gauge according to the inductance method for totalling 550 cases whose age were 41-56 years of the patients and observed statistical significance,, correlation to the difference of the bite forces between degree of destruction of alveolar bone and depth of periodontal pocket.
1) The bite forces were shown decreased with severity of destruction of alveolars bone. Of the cases of destruction alveolar bone in 1/2 and one-third of the root, the bite forces were decreased as two-third or half.
2) By the increase with depth of the periodontal pocket, the bite forces were lowered as four-fifth of the normal condition.
3) There were shown no differences between sex, left and right in the bite forces.
